The properties we manage are commercial properties, office buildings, medical buildings, light industrial, and retail. Smart Rain has really resolved the pain points of not knowing how much water we're using and also being able to find all the locations of our sprinklers on each property. A lot of people are cheap; they can go to Home Depot and think, ""Hey, this controller must be exactly like Smart Rain,"" but it never saves as much money and isn't as intuitive. Plus, Smart Rain has their whole company backing what they're doing. I can call up any of their guys and know that the same day, they'll return my call, if not answer it, and then have their technicians or team out fixing anything that comes up.
The problem was that our irrigation on a lot of our properties was put in by third-party vendors, so we didn't have a map and didn't know what we were really getting. Smart Rain was able to come in, map it for us, put it into the controller, and then we could use the Wi-Fi portion to control it with an app. That's huge because as I go around a property, I can turn zones on and off, looking right at that moment to see what's good and what's wrong. Smart Rain has helped us resolve this problem as their technology has improved. We're able to use their app and system to both map our properties and troubleshoot them better.
Initially, I was reluctant because of the price, and at that time, neither I nor the company I work with were really looking at water savings as a priority. As time went on, both the water savings and the ability of Smart Rain to help us map and control the irrigation system itself sold us. We were able to install a few Smart Rain controllers, and after that, it was clear we needed them on every property.
My favorite Smart Rain feature is the interactive map and the ability to control the whole system from my phone. As I walk around my property, I can pull up a system or zone, turn it on or off right there. It's so easy to test and troubleshoot. I would recommend Smart Rain to everyone, from big companies to small ones. I've seen both water and money savings, and it's really benefited us by using our irrigation system properly. It's made the ROI on my property increase and has been easy to work with them.
